Brief Introduction to the University
　　 Tianjin Normal University (TNU) is located in Tianjin – a beautiful seaside municipality, 120 kilometers away from Beijing. Founded in 1958, it is a comprehensive university in both teaching and academic excellence, featuring teachers’ education and also the only key normal university in Tianjin. Its main campus covers an area of 680,000 square meters with nice environment and campus cultural aura. It is the largest university in Tianjin with over 30,000 students.
　　 In 2005 TNU and the University of Nairobi jointly established the Confucius Institute at the University of Nairobi in Kenya– the first Confucius Institute in Africa; in 2006 the Confucius Institute at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University in Thailand was founded with joint efforts of TNU and the Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University. With great support and guidance form Hanban, fruitful achievements have been made in these two institutes. Many students have been able to come to China studying Chinese language with Confucius Institute Scholarship.
　　 TNU attaches great importance to international exchanges, having established friendly cooperative relationship with 86 universities in over 30 countries. It has gained favorable reputation on international education at home. More than 2,700 international students from over 40 countries come to study at our university yearly. The sum of international students in recent three years tops among the higher learning institutes in Tianjin. Several ambassadors to China and senior educational officials were nurtured by TUN successively. Our students have presented excellent performance in all kinds of contests in Tianjin and nationwide.
　　 TNU embraces favorable teaching resources, having developed long-term credit exchange programs for students with about 20 renowned overseas universities. More than 90% of our teachers have at least one-year overseas teaching experience. They work with passion, modesty and excellent teaching skills, which is highly spoken by the international students. TNU has already become one of the universities favored by international students, and enjoyed a global reputation.
